Sigma Theta Tau Conference Recap

25 Mar, 2024

Davin Healthcare made the trip to Washington, DC for the 2024 Creating Healthy Work Environments conference put on by Sigma Theta Tau at the beautiful Westin Downtown DC.

President and CEO, Dave Theobald, RN, MS, CSP, and Nurse Quality Review and Education Coordinator, Jacob Poyer, MSN, RN-BC, had a great time meeting fellow members and presenters while at the conference. Dave and Jacob presented the IRB approved research project titled, “Wearable Technologies to Support Nurse Well-Being.” The conference topic lined up perfectly with our research topic and the passion the organization has for supporting nurses. Colleagues from across the World gathered to learn about each other’s research and findings to support creating healthy work environments within healthcare.

Jacob and Dave with Axel

As we know, healthcare is an ever-changing and continually growing environment. Creating healthy work environments is no longer a suggestion, but a necessity. The well-being of healthcare professionals directly correlates with the quality of patient care, making it imperative to cultivate a workplace that promotes physical, mental, and emotional health.

Naturally, the two couldn’t make the trip without finding some four-legged friends along the way. On the left, meet the Golden Retriever, Winnie, the Albany International Airport therapy dog that came to say her goodbyes to us at our gate. On the right, meet the Rottweiler, Axel, who is a Crisis Response Canine. The organization, Crisis Response Canines, provides emotional and mental health support to those who have experienced a crisis within the healthcare environment.
