Packing Tips for Your Next Travel Contract

11 Jan, 2024

Packing for a short vacation is usually an easy process; give yourself a few outfit combinations, grab your overnight toiletries and situate it all comfortably in a small bit of luggage. Packing becomes much trickier, however, when you need to occupy a similar footprint for 13 weeks (roughly 3 months!). Today we’re bringing you some great packing hacks that may be able to help you for your next contract!

Know Where You’ll Go

Once you have the details of where you’re going it’s always a good idea to plan out what places you’d like to see and what you want to do. This is true for any sort of traveling but what can be tricky is ensuring that you give yourself the time with your work schedule in the mix. Research the local area where you’ll be staying, how spread out are the things you’d like to see/do. It’s easy to plot out all the things we want to do, but we sometimes overlook the time taken up by things in-between. You may not want to lug your skis or snowboard along if you’re not 100% confident you’ll have the opportunity to get good use out of them.

Think Minimal

This tip seems like a no-brainer but it’s easy to get carried away and end up bringing something along that takes up too much space or goes un-used. Before you start packing your essentials, it’s often worth checking on what’s available in the area you’ll be staying. For example, dishware is a typical essential, but some have found thrifting on location can be a fantastic way to save on space. This line of thinking also frees up more room for any fun souvenirs you may pick up along the way!

Write a Checklist

The third and final tip is something we often overlook but can end up being a life-saver. It’s easy to think about all the items you may end up needing, then packing them as they come to mind. In the end we’re all human and mistakes happen; writing down your own checklist of what you need can be a fantastic way to ensure that nothing you need gets left behind.
